Well, I thought changing the hydraulic fluid in my 1533 was going to be straight forward. Simply drain the fluid, change the filter, refill the fluid. After I did this, my hydraulics do not function, but I do have power steering. The fluid it visible in the sight window. Has anybody else had this experience, or know what the solution may be?

Thank you,

Gilford

Did you fill your filters with fluid? it may just be air bound

The filter is mounted horizontally. I put in as much oil in the filter as possible without it running out when I installed it.

With the tractor at an idle, work all of the controls slowly. That will purge the system of air.

Jerry G, thank you for the recommendation. Unfortunatley, I tried it last night, and still nothing. Even more unfortunate is that my dealer doesn't seem to be acting too fast. Since the loader is resting on the ground, I can't even get it out of my way in the shed.

I changed my hyd oil and filters a couple of weeks ago, and when I finished was going to work the FEL and remotes a bit to get the air out of the system. Like you've posted, nothing worked. I raised the 3point hitch and lowered it and then everything started working OK. Have you tried the 3-P-H?

I have good news, everything is working now. After consulting with MF, my dealer leared about the bleeder screw that MFred mentioned. They did not know about the bleeders before that. I also could not find any mention of them in my manual. I've read it cover to cover several times and can't find any discussion about the bleed screws, can somebody give me a page number?

Thank you all for your replies.

Where is the bleeder screw and what process did you use? My 1540 is sitting in the yard after the 50 hour service with no hydraulics as well.
Thanks,
Tim

Hey timpar. My 1533 did the same thing. I don't know where the bleeder screw is, but I kept working the steering wheel and I put the tractor in gear and moved it back and forth as much as I could with the loader down. Eventually I worked all the air out and everything started working again.
