Upon further reading and pondering....
I am thinking the backhoe has "open centers" on the valves, is this the return line (third line)?
I am sure that I am dead heading my pump (which dickfoster mentioned in the earlier thread) because the return line isn't hooked up and I can hear the pump straining. I have learned from reading that dead heading the pump causes usage of the relief valve and will generate a lot of heat, and yes, when I use the backhoe the hydraulic cylinders get hot enough to burn me.
I now know that the BH is normally run on a power beyond from the FEL. My BH is plumbed on a remote (and I am not sure why it was done this way). Rather than putting the power beyond plumbing on the FEL can I still hook up the third line to dump into the tank somehow to prevent pump dead heading and stay on the remote? Will this solve the issue?
