MF 1547 Cab, DynaQPS
First, thanks to all who share on here, it has been a big help to me in deciding what to buy. I have been kinda quiet on here (only 1 post before now), but have read until my head hurt several nights, and finally decided to just go for it.

I have a 1547 Cab/DynaQPS with FEL on the way from Ga to AR. Supposed to be here next week. Of course the 72 mo/0% was a big factor in going ahead now, always nice to use OPM, and at no cost(0%), I couldn't pass it up, although I think I would have bought red anyway.

Again, thanks to all who have provided info here to help in my decision, that's the main reason for my post, to thank you guys, not to gloat...:D, yea, right!

BTW, this seems ironic to me, after living in GA 37 years, I move back to AR and buy a tractor located in GA...

Congrats!! We are happy for you. We will require pics, and a report on how the Dyna QPS works.

Congrats!! We are happy for you. We will require pics, and a report on how the Dyna QPS works.

Pics will be forthcoming soon after it is delivered.
I briefly drove a 1560 with the Dyna QPS, and a 1547 Hydro. The 1547 had the heel and toe pedal arrangement (I understand they have changed it to side-by-side now). The reverse pedal was awkward for me to get my heel on, and once I had my heel on it, it was hard for me to feather the speed. I could probably get used to it, but I feel like the side-by-side pedals would be a lot easier. Going forward worked great. I am sure there are lots of users with the heel and toe setup who like it, that is just my first impression. As always, YMMV.

But you didn't ask about a Hydro. The Dyna QPS drove like a dream! Of course this is just a brief test drive on a dealer's lot, not doing work with the tractor, but I instantly knew this was the transmission I wanted. I suppose most Massey folks here are familiar with the Dyna QPS, but for those who aren't sure how it works, I will try a brief description. Remember, this is from someone who has only driven one briefly.

To the left of the seat is a three speed (appeared to be non-synchronized) range shift lever. On top of the knob are two buttons, marked + and -. Once you have selected a range you use the buttons to shift up or down through 4 speeds. An indicator on the dash shows which speed you are in. Shifting with the buttons does not require use of the clutch. To change direction there is a Power Shuttle lever to the left of the steering wheel, of course no clutch required for that either. The 3 ranges + the 4 speeds give 12 speeds in either direction. The only problem I had was taking off in high (3) range, a little bit of clutch chatter. Of course the cure for that is to get off the clutch quicker, but I soon realized a better way was to put the shuttle in neutral before shifting the range lever, then select your range, release the clutch, then shift the shuttle lever to whichever direction you want to go. Smooth as silk.

Again, this is just from a test drive by someone who in the past has only used much older, gear drive, shift between the legs tractors (8N, MF35, etc.). Anyone here who has this transmission and has experience working with it, please let us hear all the good;), the bad:( and the ugly:mad:.

Update.
I went to the dealer today, my tractor was to be there from GA. A tractor from GA was there, just not the right one! :mad:The driver picked up the wrong one. It was a Hydro, not a Dyna QPS. Not sure how the mix-up occurred, but it did. After apologizing and checking to see if that tractor was actually available for sale, he offered it to me for the same price. I drove it, and although the pedals are side-by-side, and that does make it much easier to operate than the heel and toe pedals, I told him I will just wait for the tractor I ordered. It is not like I have to have it NOW, it will be mostly for summer work. Thankfully, I am not blowing snow like some of you guys.:p I am just buying now to take advantage of the 0% for 72 months.

Now it is supposed to be here the first part of next week.

Sorry to hear that, but you made the right choice by waiting for the Dyna QPS. Nothng wrong with the hydro, but the next one we buy will be Dyna QPS too.

It's here! Delivered today just before noon.

Haven't done much with it, just hauled some scrap wood to the burn pile and went up the road about 1/4 mile and picked up some limbs from the ice storm. Mostly just finding an excuse to try it out and get some seat time.

The transmission continues to impress me with it's smoothness and ease of use/shifting. I am so glad I didn't settle for the Hydro. I know the Hydros work great, not knocking em. Maybe it is just me, but I just like knowing there are gears somewhere under me.

Next stop: Getting "things" to hang on the back of it. Right now all I have is a bucket and forks.
