How do you get the belt off the alternator and water pump on a 1572 with a kubota diesel? I can't seem to figure out how to get the darn drive shaft off. The belt has to come off of the crank pully.

i dont have an answer for you, but glad to see your still around. i also got rid of my 3k series for a super (2072). aside from this apparent issue, how is the older cub treating you?

It has not been to bad. I did have a bolt in the aluminum rear-end strip out from the casing, and I guess this is common. Other then this belt issue it has been fine. I have read on the internet that you have to remove the motor mounts on the motor and slid it forward in order to get the drive shaft off which you have to remove to get the belt on/off! Man I hope this is not the case. For now I am waiting for someone to chime in about how to remove this belt before I go that far.

well if its been good so far, thats good news. mine has been good so far too, aside from a few small adjustments to the hydro linkage that need made and i need to fix the trunion on the transmission. the 20hp magnum has ALOT more tourque than the 18hp vangaurd that was in the 3k. ive gone through stuff with this 2072 that would have stopped the 3k in its tracks. im hoping to pick up a 60in deck for it soon, or one of the newer gt style decks, the 50in deck is entirely too small for this tractor. which deck do you have on yours?

I have the 60" deck and the 45" snowblower. The deck is huge and you have to remove the front tires to get it on and off, but let me tell you this is how decks should be built. I don't what gage of steel it is using, but it has be like 8 or 10.

How does that work? Are you saying I can just drive up and over the deck? That would be great if that was the case. The guy I bought this from gave me no information at all, and I really don't know much about this model. On a side note I think I found a way to replace my belt. Have you ever heard of power twist V belts? This will allow me to replace the belt without removing the drive shaft. I know a lot more about that drive line then I ever wanted to know now. Also I believe you can just drive out a roll pin up by the motor on the drive shaft in order to remove it. Every post I have see says to move the motor forward or remove the transaxle.

that power twist belt thing (the link you supplied) looks like it would be a very good option, but at what price? am i correct in understanding that belt can be seperated and reconnected similar to a chain? if thats the case, i'd be on the phone to them to inquire about your application. unless it was way more expensive than a standard v-belt and depending on the life span, i'd be using those. i almost want to call and ask them to send me a catalog because thats a fantastic idea. i might call and ask for one so i have it laying around. i have no use at this moment. and from what everyone has told me, that deck is designed to be driven over. in pictures ive seen, it looks like that too, so long as the pulley covers are in place. if anything, i would think you could jack it up and slide the deck under without taking off the tires. i mean jack it way up. don't quote me on it if something breaks, i've been told by people whove had these, they can be driven over to mount.

I talked to a guy that sells these belts, and as long as there is not an idler pulley it will work greater and last much longer then a regular V belt. I bought 5 feet of belt for $28. That is enough belt to replace the belt that broke twice. The belt from Cub cost $11, so there is not much of a price difference at all. I just talked to a friend of mine who is a supervisor at a large car parts manufacture. They use this belt on all there machines with pulleys and love them.

I will take a look at my deck and see if I can drive over it that would be great.

Right now I have to jack the front end up about 1 foot and then take the tires off.
