Hi All,

I received my backhoe last Thursday and put in on my BX2360 over the weekend. This backhoe exceeded my expectations on power! I ordered it with the 12" bucket, but now I am thinking of getting the 16" to speed up digging. Has anyone ever used the 16" bucket on this size backhoe? Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Bruce

I only have the 12" bucket for my BX24 but I have been very pleased with it as well. I think you would have good luck with a 16" depending on soil type obviously. I have often wanted a wide (18"-24") grading blade/bucket for the backhoe to aid in backfilling etc. I'd be interested to hear how you make out with a bigger bucket.

Matt.

It all depends on your soil. If you are digging with ease with a 12" bucket then you probably reside in an area of very sandy loom. If you get a 16", which that hoe can handle, and change demographs to a heavier soil you can always use it as a backfill bucket. I just sold my BX with BH6000 and I have 80% clay. For me to dig with my 9" trenching bucket deeper that 3' it had to be really, really wet.

My hoe came with a 16" bucket. I thought I'd like to also have a 12" bucket until I got a price check. Haven't bit the bullet yet.

I use a 16" on my JD2320 and had also used a 16" on my older 17 HP JD650.
I am certain the 16" will work fine on your tractor. It may be a bit slower in hard rocky soil but hey, you can always put the 12" back on. You might want to do a price check and be sitting down when you get the answer before you put too much thought in. If the price is any thing close to a JD price and I'm sure it probably is you may be shocked.

Boy, good thing I sat down!

I checked all the local prices and as usual, all very expensive. I check online and found one 30% cheaper than anything around here. It should be here in a week. The soil in my area is great for digging. The whole area is/was all pine trees. The B layer is about 3 feet down and then all boney gravel down to 25-30 feet. I couldn't ask for better digging, so the 16" bucket will come in handy.

370 plus the shipping! Why only 3 teeth? Is it a Gannon bucket?

Mine came with a 16, and I had no problems digging around here.

That's not too bad. If I remember correctly a JD bucket was about double that.
