1610 Erratic Temperature

It is parked on level ground. I read on the Hoye site that these thermosiphon type systems do not perform well if the antifreeze mixture is over 25%. I have been using a 50-50 mixture. I had not experienced any problems before using this mixture. I will flush the system and refill with a 25% mixture when it warms up here again.

The 1610 is not a thermosiphon system. It has a water pump- just no thermostat. I would stick to the 50/50 mix.

Does the tractor have plenty of coolant? I had a pickup that did that one time and it ended up being low coolant. When the sensor was out of the water the temp gauge would drop and then when it got hit with some more hot coolant it would jump up again. It could also just be a bad connection somewhere (including inside the gauge). Since those gauges work based on the sensor's resistance to ground- any bad or loose connection can change the reading.
