1620 cub cadet won't fire

Kept in barn all winter and started it up every 2 months and she purred. Today turned on ignition and it turns over but no ignition. Usually the lower light panel atop the steering column will show any problem, usually the center one of the lower 3. Even gave the battery a boost and still no fire, even ether to the carb. Where do I begin?

I'm not familiar with the 1620 but I would start by removing the plug wires from the spark plugs, insert a screwdriver in the plug boot and hold it 1/8 inch from the engine block while cranking the engine You should see a spark jump to the engine from each wire as you test it. If there is a spark and it wouldn't start with the ether it may be a compression or timing problem. If there is no spark then the ignition module (coil) could be bad or is not getting 2 volts to it.
