avclay, hang in there and don't rush. I had a 2000 New Holland 1920 w/7308 loader and 758C backhoe fall into my lap in Jan. 2002. It had 72 hrs. and was garage kept since new, excellent shape, for $17,000. I too had planned to buy new but went for it. The owner paid $27,500 in Oct. 2000 (sales tax was an extra $1400). The biggest downside was I had to pay cash. Good luck with your search, Bill C

A neighbor who does a bit of equipment selling and buying convinced me to hold off and look around. The problem I'm running into is Spring is in the air and landscaping is in my head! The local dealers have nothing of this range on their lots. Also, I've now been told you need at least 30 hp to do "serious" brush cutting. The 1910 is looking better during a third look. It had just over 1500 hrs on it but is cosmetically rough.
Season wise, should I expect more or less used tractors coming on the market at this point?

( I think you should check around some more on that TC30. I paid less than that for my TC29D with Hydro, super-steer and sensi-trac. I think he is a few grand high there.)

You paid less than 14,500 for a TC29D w/loader??? How the heck did you manage that? That's about a couple grand better than the best price I've seen or heard for a 29D without the Supersteer.

Here's my .02$ worth. The XX 20 series generally has more bells and whistles than the XX10 series which I consider to be an economy line..though.. I do not think that is necescarilly a bad thing.

I bought my used 1920 from my NH dealer for 9500.. no fel, 700 hrs, 4wd 9x12 tranny.

I was originally going for a tc18... I bought more tractor than I thought I needed, and paid just a bit more... got used instead of new. Bottom line.. glad I did... I find more uses for HP every day. Love my 1920, but see the day when i need a bigger tractor.. may go for a good clean used 3010s.. another economy tractor.. but decently beefy.. And I don't mind economy packages. I'm used to the 'sparse' operator platform of my 52' ford 8N, 54' Ford NAA, and a 79' Yanmar 1700.... All which served me well, without any real bells or whistles...

Your money.. but i would look that 1910 over a bit and see if the leaks are superficial, aor a real problem.. if not, I would consider it over the 1620.

John,

I think I mislead you. I thought you got quote for the TC30 for 14,500 and I was saying I paid less than that for my TC29D. I paid $14,500 just for my tractor which included the tractor, hydro, super-steer and sensi-trac. So if you got a quote for $14,500 for tractor and loader then maybe the price isn't so bad.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I guess I didn't read your original post very well.

Hey, it wasn't my original post anyway that was "Avclay". I bought a TC33D in the summer of 2001, and 14,500 was a WHOLE lot less than I paid ($17,500 with FEL & HD bucket, filled R4's and block heater, no supersteer. A $17,000 quote from a dealer a couple of hours away was the best I found, but decided to stay with the local guy due to his excellent service reputation.)

John,

I have been away for a few days so catching up is going to fast and not reading everything like I should. The price you got is a good deal and very comparative to mine.

TC29D,
Super-steer
Hydro
block heater
Sensi-trac
R4 Tires $14,235.00

72" MMM $ 2,650.00

7308 FEL
60" Bucket $ 2,465.00

That should total $19,350.00. That included set up and delivery and a tank full of water downed diesel fuel. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif (Not their fault) They did take care of it, took some time.

Now he gave me an option for $ 900.00 to go to the 33 same specs but I had already spent $600.00 more to go from the 25 to the 29. I just figured I had to draw the line somplace.

And to spend $500.00 more to go with a dealer close to you that you trust is well worth it. You got yourself a good deal.

I wasn't too concerned about whether I had gotten a good deal or not... at least not until I saw your post which seemed to say you'd gotten a 29D w/fel and supersteer for under $14,500. The only way I could have gotten a price like that was if I kidnapped the dealer's daughter and held her for ransom! I researched the heck out of the purchase before I made it. Drove JD's, Kubota's, Agco's and NH, most on more than one occasion, then made my choice. I've not looked back since... been very happy with it.

hmmmmm, kidnapping the dealers daughter and holding her for ransom, interesting suggestion..... that may get the price down! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Found a different 1910 w/ 700 + hrs. It has a leaking front drive shaft and the tie rods have been welded. Comes with ag tires. Any suggestions as to how much these problems should take off the asking price?
Thanks for all the replies everyone!

I personally like ag tires.. your call there. As for the tie rod ends.. you say welded? As in the crown nut was welded on the end.. or the adjustment areas where the end goes into the arm was welded? The tie rod ends themselves are no big deal.. if it is the arm as well.. if you can do the work,, you are just buying parts. As for the leaky seal.. I hate replacing seals.. as how much the dealer will do it for... factor the repairs into the price..
