I am in the market to buy a compact tractor. I have narrowed it down to the Kioti and the Massey Ferguson. I like the CK27HST in the Kioti and the 1635 in the Massey Ferguson. I understand that the MF is more tractor than the Kioti but they both weight about the same. I am almost positive that I want a hydrostatic transmission. I am hoping that someone that has a 1635 HST can give me some feedback on the overall operation of the tractor and any additional info that could help me decided to go ahead and make a purchase. I will mainly be using the tractor for pulling a finishing mower and doing loader work. I don't have a garden to plow and I have an older JD that I use for bush hogging. The powershuttle on the MF is the next best thing to Hydro in my opinion. The Kioti is by far the most heavy made of the compact tractor and I think it would be a good fit for me. Thanks!

How about a DK-40 instead?

The DK40HST would be real nice. I prefer the dual pedal design on the MF1635 and also the DK series. I looked at and demoed the CK27HST and liked it really well. I don't understand why the put the brake pedals on the same side as the HST pedal. That is a little strange.

Just bought a 1635 HST bout a month ago. Was in the same boat you're in against the powershuttle. All I do is use a finish mower and a box blade for now.....might push a bit of snow this winter with the FEL. Just mowed 9 acres today with it. So far so good. When pulling hard or going up a slope you get the whine everyone will tell you about. Noticed a lot at first now not nearly as much. Don't know if it's getting quieter or I'm getting used to it. Did a lot of trimming along the woods and a sharp drop off backing up and pulling away and the hydro made it very easy and it seemed a lot safer also. The cruise control lever is nice also as it lets you set the speed and just kick back and ride as you would with a regular transmission. On a note....If you've got a lot of fairly steep hills or slopes to mow a lot you might consider the shuttle. It tends to want to power out on a steep grade while mowing. But other than that I really like mine. I also have a 2000 foot driveway too grade and upkeep with the before mentioned box blade and it works miracles. Here's a couple of pics of part of what I mowed today. Gonna build a house in the middle in the spring. Don't know anything about a Kioti. No dealers near me. Probably a good tractor also though.

I appreciate the input. Nice pictures! I would say that 90 percent of the dealers I have talked to try to talk me out of a Hydro. I think that they are just trying to sell what they have in inventory. I just need to figure out what is gonna work best for me and not be influenced by a dealer telling me what I will and wont be happy with.

My dealer did the same thing. He had a shuttle on the lot and said I'd like it much better. I stuck with the hydro and he had to get it out of Michigan.....I'm in WV. Myself, I believe I made the right choice. To each his own though.

I am going to buy a finishing mower also. I demoed a Kioti 6' mower and it worked quite well. What do you think of the one that you have and how much do they cost? Thanks

The Massey, is kind of a cut above the Kioti CK series, more like the DK Kioti lineup. Pretty close to my DK35se (no longer made this year due to Tier 4) The loader has a little more guts.. Get the hydro and don't look back. I have owned 5 tractors, 2 gear 3 hydro.. Never going back to gear. If the Massey is in the same price class as they CK then I would go with the Massey. The CK should be quite a bit less than the Massey. But if not go with the Massey with HST. I think you will be very satisfied. And this is coming from a Kioti lover:)

Thanks for the information. Out of all the tractors that I have researched and looked at, the Kioti is probably my favorite. It is by far the heaviest built tractor that I looked at. My father just purchased a Mahindra 3016 and he told me yesterday that he wished that he had gotten the Kioti instead.

I got a Land Pride 1672. Cost me $2350 brand new. Works amazing. Was cutting some stuff about 3 ft high and kinda thick today, probably shouldn't have, but I took it slow and it went right through it. I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for. On the regular mowing of the field I posted it lays it out smoother than my Johd Deere riding mower. No clumps or anything. Kinda surprised me.
