I saw that there is a new 2012 DK35HST on tractorhouse.com for sale. What could I expect to pay for it?

I gave 19,300 for mine. That included fluid filled tires, and a canopy.

That sounds like a pretty fair deal. I talked to a MF dealer yesterday and he told me that now is a good time to purchase a tractor because some major emission changes are getting ready to be made that could cause various problems with reliability.

Well I don't know about reliability, but certainly complication, and price increase.. The Kubota 60 series is already out, (with Tier 4 emissions). First looks seem to be they are OK. Some thing are kinda hung on the side, and around, to make room for the emissions gear.. That is why the DK35 is no longer made, as its chassis is 4 inches shorter than the DK40 series and there wasn't room for the emissions gear. The 1635 Massey, I understand is still Tier 4 interim, and the new Tier 4 final tractor in that range will be the 1700 series.

Well said. That is very much in line with what most dealers have told me.

Yes, the MF 1600 series is Tier IV interim. There is the new MF 1700 series, which is Tier IV. I have the MF 1648 open platform with the 12x12 PowerShuttle, and wouldn't go any other way. My Simplicity Regent lawn tractor has the Hydrostat, and it is fine on there. The PowerShuttle is great on the "big" tractor; just got to enjoy it this weekend, 5 hours bush hogging and 2 hours loader work. Overall, the MF is a great tractor, and I think you cannot go wrong with the 1600 series. I don't know anything about the Kioti, but it seems that the Kioti owners are also happy campers.

Ok, Did you have your mind set on a power shuttle before you made the purchase? I was just wondering if you demoed a 1635 in a Hydro.

To really appreciate the difference between a power shuttle and HST, you have to spend some time using each, running around a dealer's lot isn't going to help a whole lot. I run both and like both, but the HST is easier to use and if I spend a full day doing a lot of loader work, I am worn out with the power shuttle. The older I get, the more noticeable, but even my 33 year old son can tell the difference.

Thanks for the input. That is true that you really can't get a good feel for a tractor driving it around on the lot. I would really like to be able to work in a dirt pile and mow some grass before I pull the trigger on a purchase.

I just drove both, HST and 12x12 PS around on the lot, but I was already set on the 12x12. Personal preference, and a big fun factor for me. Both are great options.
