Greetings everyone! I'm a few weeks from ordering my very own TC40DA! On another post, someone questioned which FEL another guy got on his new TC40. I was curious why you were asking about a 16LA FEL. When i was given a quote at the dealer, they listed a 17LA FEL. Do you guys recommend one over the other? I want to get this right the first time and eliminate the "I should have(s)" Thank for your help!!

I suspect the 17LA is required if your tractor has Supersteer, 16LA if it does not. At least that is true for the TC33DA, which takes a 14LA without Supersteer and 15LA with Supersteer. No real difference in the capability of the loaders.

OK, that makes sense... I'm definately getting supersteer. So that must be it. Thanks!

Make sure you test drive the TC40DA-SS with the 17LA loader in place. The bucket moves paradoxically at rest when the tractor isn't moving and the steering wheel is turning. Not a big issue, but it can cause suprises until you're used to that movement.

Doc's right, SuperSteer can give you some tense moments if you're parking your rig right next to the family car. Most of the TBN members that have it go through a brief learning curve before they understand what to expect from it. It's also one of those features that really grows on you. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Depending on your application, you must have requested the NH exclusive supersteer which gives you the automatic FWD, longer wheelbase for the smoother ride, and 75 degrees of turning angle, especially important in mowing applications.

On the NH units, they offer the 16LA loader for the conventional FWD, and the 17LA is the unit for the supersteer axle tractors.

whichever tractor and loader you go with, I would get the skid steer quick attach faceplate. This allows you to easily take the bucket on or off, as well as using any skid steer styled attachment. Hope this helps

Heres a trick that I didn't mention in my earlier post. When you are in a tight spot and need to correct your steering with a SuperSteer axle and want to minimize the loader moving in the opposite direction try this. Drop your bucket and use it to slightly raise the front wheels just off the ground, point your front wheels in the direction that you need to go, then pick up the bucket so the front wheels are now on the ground once again. You can then move in the direction that you need to travel. When working with pallet forks, unloading semi's I have used this method to line up on the pallet with good success. Just practice a bit out in the open first. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I recently purchased a TC40DA with 16LA FEL with the hydrostatic transmission but not the supersteer. The salesman actually talked me out of the supersteer which would have been about $1000.00 more. The turning radius without the supersteer is already incredible. I mow between pine trees and can't imagine needing to make turns any tighter than the tractor is already capable of. I think the supersteer feature may actually lower the ground clearance a little, so double check on that if it is important to you; there is also the operational issue described by others in the forum, and of course a little extra maintainence. Great tractor!

Thanks for the great tips about the supersteer! Actually, idid request the quick attach front bucket adapter. I don't really plan on mowing a whole lot with it, at least not yet. I think a zero-turn mower would work better for our grass. We have lots of FEL work, and backhoe work, i figured the supersteer would be great for changing direction while FEL-ing. I'll get the attachments as i need them. I saw your posts about installing the T-N-T rear remotes. I don't want to pay the dealer, when i'm more than capable. I think my biggest problem will be trying to find a hiding place for the tractor... my wife is claiming seat time, and we don't even have it yet. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
