yanmar 1700
I know that I should have posted in "projects", but I wanted to share with the Yanmar guys.

The weight is made out of 10x4x1/4 tubing and is filled with scrap pieces of 1" thick plate. The voids left in the weight was filled with sand. The weight comes in around 80-85 pounds. The best thing was that it was all free except the can of red spray paint! No more wheelies for me!

Unfortunately; no. One of the guys in our shop does work like this on the side and he is very good. He did this free handed.

"The weight is made out of 10x4x1/4 tubing". I'm still trying to figure out what that thing is made out of. What is 10x4x1/4 tubing and how does it get into the form that you have there?

Norm, I blieve thats 10" X 4" rectangular steel tube with 1/4" wall thickness. Used alot of this when we manufactured Ridlers for the wine industry when I was in CA. It would appear that he has welded end caps, after filling with the items mentioned......Mark

Norm,

Mark is correct. If you look at the side shot; the weight would be 10" tall and 4" wide. The steel tubing has a 1/4" wall thickness. I took 4"x1/4" flat bar and welded one end on and filled with 1" thick scrap pieces of plate (tacked in place on open end). I stood the weight on end and packed with sand. Once packed; I welded the other end on, ground smooth, and painted. While loose; it was not fun trying to move it and mount it. I said it weighs 80-85 pounds by not certain. I tried to weigh it on my wife's scales and I broke the scales (shhhh; don't tell my wife)!
