Well guys, it's not Blue, but I think this is the one for me. It's a nice little 1997 MF 1230 with 25hp, 4x4, 60" Westendorf FEL, and 916 hours. Implements are a Land Pride 72inch mower, 54 inch Land Pride tiller, a carry all, and a Tumble bug (not pictured). Asking price is 10K. I'd welcome comments and suggestions. Thanks for all your input so far.

BTW, I got a call from the guy with the Ford 1900, he sold it.:(

Looks good. From the picture it looks like he mowed a lot of grass with it, which is light work for a tractor. That helps. I would buy that type of use before I would buy one that was used by a contractor/construction crew.

Ask him about the maintenance schedule that he followed. If he did everything "by the book" or had it serviced by the dealer you may have found what you are looking for.

My only comment would be to make sure the turf tires are what you want. I have them as I do a lot of work going across my lawn, I use to borrow my friends 1710 and the Ag tires on it were chewing up the grass, especially after some rain. The Turf tires are great for lawn care and the 4wd with turf's works OK in the mud and snow for clearing the driveway. But if it's 6" of mud (like in my swampy wooded area) the turfs are not the right tire even with 4wd. But the turf's and 4wd are fine for snow removal on the driveway. I just can't run in the woods to fetch logs with 12" of snow without the chains. I put tire chains on the turfs and it's great in the snow and mud.

good luck
Stuart

Looks good,

I noticed the same rig in Craigslist in KC area. I get close and personal with the tractor to check everything out before I commit. Good set of implements
too.

Also there are no headlights on the 1710?? I would assume the hood got mashed and a patch job was done. I thought that they all had headlights. That may be more signs of hard use.

The headlights are actually in the rear fenders, which makes them pretty useless when you have the FEL installed! I am glad that NH gave up on that little design element. (I have a 1986 1910 that looks a lot like the 1710 in your photos, except for ag tires.) Also, it looks like the 1710 has the synchromesh transmission (see the column shift?).
