I have been messing with motors all my life and had no clue it was that serious or so easy to prevent.

And puts a whole new light on buying a used truck. Or tractor.

This video describes the differences in dry and wet cylinder sleeves. The wet sleeves are the last to be discussed and cavitation is related to them because they are the only type sleeves that come into direct contact with the coolant.
