1754 owner here, bought new in 2016. When new, the AC was really cold but lately it seems it's not as cold as when new.
As a former truck mechanic, I recall that when drivers complained about their AC not being cold enough, one of the first places I checked was if the valve for the HEATER was in fact, completely closing. (If the valve didn't close off tight, the cold air got re-warmed before exiting the ducts on the dash.)
My question is, where is this valve located in my 1754? I suspect it is in the roof of the cab, but do I access it from on top, by removing the roof, or is it accessed from underneath, by removing the headliner?

You're right, a suspect heater valve is indeed a well known culprit in certain A/C problems. It comes up more often than people would think.

It's your choice of course, you can go looking for it in the cab, (whatever that takes) or do what I do. Look for a spot on one of the hoses where it's easy to reach, cut the hose and install one of these. (or something similar) Leave it closed until winter.

Again, it's your tractor, your money, your choice. If you wish to "keep it all factory' then by all means, go for it. Most in cab valves any more are all plastic and prone to failure sooner of later. If not the valve, the cables that operate them. I've installed dozens of this type valves on many different tractors over the years and have yet to get any complaints about the aesthetics. Most people are just happy to have the A/C working.

I prefer the quarter turn ball valves for mine, numerous choices out there;

The first thing I do on an AC cooling complaint is attach the gauges. Do you even know if the system has refrigerant?

I really don't need a tutorial on diagnosing AC problems. I've done plenty of that. Please go back and read the original post.
I only asked if anyone knew how to access the water shut off valve by the heater box.

I for one, am aware of your question in the first post. That said, I merely offered my suggestion to save you from taking half the cab apart to get to it. As for where is it? Chances are nobody out here knows for sure so you haven't gotten that answered yet. Maybe you will. The heater valve will be close to the heater core, which will be next to the A/C evaporator. Is up in the top part of the cab, or under the seat? I don't know.

If I were working on your tractor I would start by simply taking a pair of vise grips, two flat washers, and pinching one heater hose flat. The run the tractor with A/C working for 1/2 hour and see if that has any effect on the issue. What comes next would depend on the answer.
