Worth shot before the dealer route. My LS did take holding it what felt like a long time, The other stuff is required, brake neutral and running,

More or less in order:

When I tried manual regen, I had the tractor in neutral and the parking brake engaged, which the "P" dash indicator confirmed.

I tried pressing the manual regen button several times in one second or so intervals. I tried holding the button for perhaps 4-5 seconds. Never nearly so long as 10. I will try that.

Thank you to all who have provided feedback!

I needed to check, because I did not recall the detailed list of instructions that @thclimer included. My manual is nothing as detailed. Here is the entire section on DPF manual regen, which has a completely different chapter designation amongst other things.

So no time like the present as the aphorism goes. It's dark and 35 F here, but I did the routine as before except I held the regen button down much longer. Somewhere around 7 seconds the engine revved up on its own and the "blowing" dash lamp went from flashing to solid. Regeneration is in progress. Thank you all who helped! Much appreciated.

Wow, that's ENCOURAGING!
Was the tractor up to operating temperature?

Nice to learn that it worked for you!

The key seems to be in holding the Manual DPF button for an extended period of time "several seconds"....... I guess is more like 7-10 seconds.

Like that on my LS, sure seems like a long timer in the ECM code. However it does keep you from entering that mode by accident.
