Well I finally got around to finishing the boom lift. After using it a few times I decided to convert it to a hydraulic boom. The lift Ht.is 8' when the lift arms are resting on the ground and the Ht. is 12' when fully extended up .

Nice job. That is an interesting design that you came up with. What is the max weight that you can lift in the horizontal position, and move it with the PT? The more vertical you go, the center of gravity will shift back towards the QA. Do you have other lifting positions on the boom such as 2 ft, 4 ft etc? What is the wall tickness of the pipe?

JJ;
I tested the boom by lifting about a 150# generator with the attachment frame resting on my garage floor with no problem. I dont't want to do to much lifting until I install two a frame braces for side lateral support. The boom is 2" sq. tube x 3/16 wall. I got the design idea after looking at a few engine hoists and truck bed hoists. It took a little head scratching laying out the cyl. position so I would end up with near vertical position. I might add a mid point hook after I install the side braces.

wow. I want one... what everyone needs, a crane in their garage! Seriously, I could see some good uses for that (although I think some serious weight addition on the rear of the PT might be called for to prevent PT Pucker Factor times 10!)

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the forum, but have been thinking of getting a PT for a long time. Beechwood, that looks like a nice attachment you made. I see that there's some sort of pistons and arms on the front of that machine. Are those run on electrical or hydraulic? What's the lifting capacity on those arms? What does the PT-180 stand for? What does articulated mean?
