The noise level from a small Kubota 2 cyl is not even close to a small yanamr 2 cyl.

Listen to the sound/vid file at the bottom of my sig photo list, especially around the 40 seconds point. Without PowerService in the fuel, the rap is even sharper and louder than that.

Also the YM1500 dealer demo vid I have on there illustrates that those sound about the same. Does anybody know who that is driving the 1500?

Hi! Yanmar Diesel engines are DIRECT INJECTION a lot more noisy More high compression as 20 to 1 But more efficient and more powerful. Kubota Diesel engines are INDIRECT INJECTION with precombustion chamber lower compression 18-19 to 1. A lot quieter . The two are very good engines but differents .Thanks and good luck! Oldmech

Hmmm. My 1996 3-cyl 3TN84RJ Yanmar engine in my JD955 was direct
injection and the compression ratio was 18:1. In the same JD family is the
755, which is indirect injection and 22:1 comp ratio. Yanmar makes
both and I will bet you will see lower compression on many DI engines. This
example is a 3 cyl, not a 2 cyl.

Yea you guys i know i could have fixed the thing. but "I" DIDN'T like what i was hearing. Been around engines all my life, just like a bunch of you men. I had a Yanmar 2000 with a two cylinder. That motor, even cranked in cold weather was really quiet compared to the Yanmar in question here. But really am not in the mood to have to work on something;;; i have to do that every time i crank my lawn mower. Something is always breaking around here,,, I am just tired of fixin all the time. I'll find something!!!!
