I went out on the lot and took a quick drawbar measurement, 7 1/2" on the 1815 and 11 1/2" on the 2015 = 4" Quite a bit.
Thanks Galen,

I would never have guessed that much difference. That's the reason the popular SCUT's do not appeal to me, 6" of ground clearance.

Thanks RedRiver.

I did but he passed my email request off to another Mahindra dealer a 100 miles away and I have not heard anything. Of course this is thru email and I know most dealers are not internet savvy yet. Running all over the (PNW) Pacific North West talking to dealers is the equivalent, to me, as a trip to the dentist for a crown.

I heard rumours that my local Mahindra delaer is closing up shop.

I thought if someone out there had bought or been quoted on an 1815 and they could let me know what there experience is.

Who is your local Mahindra dealer?

My local dealer is:

West Valley Sales LLC
Approx. 20 miles
17929 Route 536
Mount Vernon, WA 98273

I found out that he is retiring and he is a friend of Boulder tractors. So it was more misunderstanding on my part.

Buck I see that you are a dealer too. (the internet I a beautiful thing) I was going to call you but I thought I would give my local guy a chance first. I have been keeping up with the dealer chatter here on this forum. :D

Chuck,
I've had similar experience. I stopped at my local dealer, and the salesman told me that the "00" series was the "2wd only" series. I knew that wasn't right. I took some literature and went out to look at the tractors by myself.
Not impressed.
I'd much rather buy from one of the guys on here, pay the shipping and have someone that I could rely on for help, than someone who doesn't know their own product.
Good luck BTW!

Technically that is correct. There are still some 00 series 4WD's out there but they are changing all the old 00 4WD units over to the 30 series. Maybe he just wasn't clear about this??

I always suport buying from the local dealer, the good news is there are quite a few mahindra dealers on the I-5 so you have lots of options.

OK, so I took the 1815HST and 2415HST for a test drive at my local dealer. The sales manager helped me personally and he was a genuinely nice guy.

So impressions of the 1815. This is perfect size for my little 5 acres. It is very well built for what I saw. It had 2 large power steering actuators and turned the wheels equally on pavement or dirt. It started right up with no hesitation and went straight to a level RPM. There was nothing on the three point so all I could do is watch it go up and down. The 1815 has 2 ranges (high and low) and the low range seem very low, while the High range seem just right for running around on the roads. They had a pile of dirt in a open field next to there dealership and I was told to go (PLAY!!) test out the tractor. It has a 2wd or 4wd drive so I started with 2wd first and did some FEL work. It cut in to the plaice of dirt nicely until I the engine started to strain. I tipped the bucket up and backed away for the pile. It had picked up about セ of a bucket of dirt in 2wd and I looked at where I was and saw the wheels did not spin very much. I dumped that bucket and switched to 4WD and did the same approach to the dirt pile. With 4wd it went straight in and picked up a FULL bucket of dirt before the engine started to strain. The loader seem to be slow lifting the dirt but when I count the time in matched what the show in there brochures. Dumping, curling the bucket and dropping of the loader seemed to be a normal speed. I drove up on of the piles in 4WD and it crawled right up with no clearance issues. The R4 tires are a different then the other R4 tires. They reminded me of off road tires for sand rails. The rear differential lock was difficult to use behind my left leg. Other then that the controls were easy enough for me to use. Over all it seen a good tractor.

The 2415HST was similar to the 1815 in most respects But the 2415 had a wider stance on the rear wheels then the 1815. The loader times seem to be about the same except it lifted quicker. When I went to the dirt pile in 2wd the tractor stopped when the FEL pushed into the pile but the rear wheel just kept on going. In a second I had dug a rut with the rear tires. When I backed out the reverse speed was HALF of the forward speed. They said this I a safety feature and it may be safer but I do not like it. And in 4wd it pushed in to the pile with no issues and like before started to dig ruts. Obviously this tractor needed filled tires for traction. It also did not have a 3 point attachment on so all I could do I drop it and raise it.
All the controls were in the same places but the differential lock was inn the same place but it was larger so using it was better. However a couple of thing found irritating about the 2415 was the steering felt loose. You could turn the steering wheel 10 degrees and it would have no affect on the wheels. And the last thing that really annoyed me was the loader lever and controls shook terrible when moving faster then a slow walk. It was enough of an issue that the handle to the loader was rattling around wit 1.2 hours on the clock.
I am sure those two things could be fixed but it put a bad thought in my mind about how this tractor would be in the future.

I have three really temping offers on the 1815 from different dealers that I am considering. But I still want to look at the TYM tractors before I decide. Hey, I have been looking for a year what is another couple of weeks.

Ok enough of my rambling.
