All,

Has anyone found a way to increase the set travel on Cubs, such as my 1864?

I'm 6'4", and even all the way back it's a bit cramped. I have to keep the steering wheel tilted all the way up/forward and it's a bit of a chore getting on and off.

Ahh.. a fellow 1864 owner, I thought I was the only one. Sorry I can't help you with the seat, I'm 6'0 and it fits just about right. At least we can bounce problems off once another. I found your thread a few pages back where you revived it from the dead.. Looking good 48" deck like mine, I'm with you I'd like a little smaller deck, not that it doesn't get the job done.

The 48" deck would be perfect for most folks.

My problem is mowing a slightly sub-1/4 acre yard (with that half-way taken up by a dog kennel) with a $5000 tractor LOL.

Probably good comic relief for the neighbors.

Funny thing is, I've already done two favors for neighbors using the tractor and the John Deere Cart I bought for it (Yes, I know. Blasphemy, but to be honest the JD 10p is the best cart in it's <$200 price class).

My back and it's steel-rod fusion appreciates it too.

Hey Larry,

Thats what a loy of guys love about the Super Garden Tractors, longer wheelbase, a lot more legroom. You can identify them by the dual brake pedal on the right side for the independant rear brakes.

I think I took a seat off one of the 1860 series tractors I owned and redrilled the pan to move the seat back a few more inches. Is yours on a slotted pan and all the way to the rear?

That's sure a fine looking tractor!

I was going to look into this as a winter project.

I'm sure there's some way to do this, even if I have to make an adapter plate out of steel.
