Well, thanks again guys. I bought the tractor. A 1997 1920 with 12x12 SSS trans, 4WD, and NH loader. The tractor is in excellent condition and always garage kept. Includes a Land Pride rotary cutter, LP tiller, and KK rake. 317 hours on the tractor and the 300 hour service was just completed by the dealer. The loader bucket is like new. It appears most of the hours were spent mowing. Tiller and rake look almost unused too. R1 tires but I can live with that. I think I did ok......11k. Pic early next week if requested.

I think you did great. After hearing of the loader.. etc.. a few messages ago.. you got a cherry deal.

Those r-1 will bee decent.. last forever..

That is an awesome anc very powerfull machine. Mowing is fairly easy on it too.. the 700 or so hours on mine when i bought it were mowing hours.

Here's a tip. In front of the radiator is a removable screen element... check it regularly. If you mow in tall material.. check it during the day.. or if your temp gauge climbs a tad higher than it 'normally' sets at.. stop and check the screen.

Everything else is 'self evident' pretty much.

If you have any questions.. don't hesitate to email me.. I loved mine.. and only just recently traded it.

Woodlot,

When I bought my recent tractor, the dealer helped arrange the sale of my 1988 Ford 1920 to a used tractor dealer. Loader, 4x4, 1 remote hydraulic, 12x4( non-syncro) 1100 hrs, garaged and in good shape. No attachments in the deal: $10,000 without looking at it. You did well.

Wow, one heck of a deal. If you've always had a simple gear tractor, you will love the Shuttle-Shift. One other suggestion, keep the grease fitting at the front of the 4wd drive shaft, where it enters the front differential, well-lubed. It seems to be the one point where some wear-related sounds develop from the lack of frequent greasing. Good luck, you've gotten yourself one great tractor at a great price.

Thank you for that tip. Thats exactly the type of thing I need to know. I will grease it tomorrow asap. I just unloaded the tractor and got about an hour of mowing done. It's awesome. I'm not used to the RPM's though. My 8N has no tach and I now realize that I've always run it at a pretty low RPM. At 2,000-2,500 RPM on the 1920 it seems to me like its really reving fast. I guess just something I need to get used to.

Soundguy and others, Would 2500 hours on a 1985 2110 Diesel 4WD with Brush Hog loader scare you off. Good paint 2 owners many new parts: Clutch, Volt Reg, Front end seals all hoses,Battery, Alt Vlt Reg,Drive Shaft o Rings new fluids but a leaky Steering Colum Seal.
Thanks

Hours by themselves don't scare me. Hours plus new paint and a few problems might make me investigate parts availability.

Thousands of hours are common life spans for an engine that is taken care of.

Look at the machine, and possibly find out what type of work it did / previous owner.

A contractors machine.. or a rental machine might have been more abused.. etc.
