i have a 1944 massy ferguson tractor and i bought it from a friend. he does not know what kind of oil he ran through it. does anyone know what i should run in it?

A '44 Massey Ferguson ?? Maybe later, but don't think these two names were together then.

Here is a quote when Massey-Harris joined with Ferguson

Formed in 1953, the new association was called Massey-Harris-Ferguson Limited. Five years later, the name was shortened to Massey Ferguson, creating one of the world’s most powerful forces in farm equipment.

But the date may not be that important, nor the combined name.

Use straight 30 wt oil, and be about right for the times. Must be a flat head, right?
