I did put a jump on it and it turned. Now I have a new battery I hope to clean the tank and lines, put in the new filters and try to fire it up tomorrow.

Along those lines... Does this baby have glow plugs I need to preheat as on my '08 Massey 33? Does anyone have a generic startup sequence I should follow?

Excuse my ignorance, This thing was built before I was born. Looks like a real solid piece of equipment though:)

Looked like pulling the tank might be a bit of work, thanks

Centers are fine, I just need the rims with rails. I wonder if I could cut the old rails off and weld them to new rims of the right size. I'm pretty handy like that.

Rims and tires are gonna break the bank!

wengers of PA.. hit em online..

as for the weld cut n paste. sure.. might work.

I've done similar with older PA rims on the prior models.

you may or may not have a thermal starting aid setup on that machine i'm not familiar with them as much.. don't use em here in florida... i'm more familiar with the prior models anyway.... check the intake for somehing vaugely resembling a spark plug..

Got it running this afternoon after cleaning out a lot of sludge in the tank, shutoff valve (which had a screen in it where it threads into the tank) and lines.
Bled it out,new battery and a shot of ether. Fired right up. Sounds good!
No glow plugs in this one.
PTO,3pt and loader all worked.

2 new issues:

PTO seems to spin whether in the engaged or disengaged position? Is this because there is no load on it? or do I have a problem?

Pulled the hydraulic level plug next to the parking brake to check to see if it was full and orange foam ran out. Is this just because water weeped in while sitting and it needs to be drained and refilled with new or is this a larger problem?

Thanks- Jim

orang is rust.. foam is likey water.. orange foam is liekly rusty water being churned and emulsified intot he oil.

any machine that has sat a while needs a full service..e tc.

as for the pto... if , when disengaged, you can use a board ( NOT A BODY PART!!! ) and lay against it and leverage it to a stop... it's more or less ok.. insomuch that it has a worn out or non operative PTO brake.. which normally holds it stopped. if however, it stays powered and you are unable to stop it with a 2x4, when disengaged.. then there is a problem.. like the hyd clutch is staying engaged.. possibly warped plates.. or they piled up....

i bought the same setup out of a salvage yard about 3 months ago alo i payed almost 3 times as much but in the same shape. so you did go on the tractor as for as the pto run it a little while and see if it starts cutting off setting that long may have stuck a valve mine was doing the same thing but after running it a few times it went to working correctly

OK, Next question from the newbie in Maine...
I just drained the transmission and rear axle. There was quite a bit of water in each, especially the trans. Now they are both mostly drained but still dripping foamy oil.

Should I? :

Flush them out. (if so with what)
Fill them up and drain them again after some light use.
Fill them up and don't worry about it.

Thanks-Jim
