no boss motor....it was what they refer to as a clone, i guess..i bought a boss 302 new in 70..sure would like to have another one, but wouldn't care about the boss motor anymore, a clone would do me fine...mine broke the skirt off the same piston, 3 times in the first year i had it...stayed in the shop way to much....thats why i got rid of it. i still have the owners manual and the rev limiter...saw one rev limiter sell for over $700 on ebay, got mine out and ready to put up for sale, and they have been going for about $300 ever since, so i decided to wait...a lot of folks ask me if i wish i had kept the boss, i always reply...nope, i wish i had put the money in wal-mart stock...

It's not the motor that brings the big bucks. It's all the stuff all the people trashed when they were new. The smog stuff, stock manafolds, air cleaners, rev limaters, etc. Thats the stuff that kills you now, when you try to restore these cars.

In the early 80's, my wife, and I drag raced my Mustang. I stripped everything out that was not needed. AC, heater, sound deadener, trim, etc. Well now I am restoring the car. I have to try to find all this stuff I ripped out, and tossed 20 years ago. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Oh well, live and learn.

Hears a bad picture from the drag racing days....

yep, just the motor....the guy listed the numbers for the car its suppose to be in...so if someone could find the car, and put them back together, they'd have a numbers matching boss..theres also a calipso red boss on ebay, the price was up to 22k, and its not a numbers matching car, but it sure looked good.

There are not a lot of numbers matching Boss's out there. There was a piston, or pin problem, and almost all the motors were replaced under warranty when new, or blown up. Unlike a lot of GM's, it does not effect the value much on the 302's.
