Not sure where to put this, she is 48 years old...almost antique

I am getting ready to add R.O.P. system and my fender question is this

Fenders are in very good shape no noticeable dents or rust holes etc, I was going to reuse them by cutting off the inside 3 stiffeners and attach back to R.O.P.s OR make some out of sheet metal

I would hate to destroy stock fenders if they are needed for a restoration...am I GTG to modify them? or are they rare?

thanks

Here's a picture of the factory ROP and clam shell fenders mounted on my 4500. I would've made the plate wider and drilled/tapped for the bolts so the fender wasn't riding on top of it.

Thanks, very similar to what I am planning

1/2 x 10 x 11 plate with 6 bolts per side (incorporate FEL mount), then remove the 3 ribs so I can push fender out towards tire and tie it back into "shoulder bar"

crappy ms paint...

I will post pics of my 5000 and 4600, on both, I have the fenders bolted to the top of the rops plate. i think the 4600 posted first.
