Thankyou very much everyone that helped me.
This brake problem was a great success!
I rebuild the whole brake pedal assembly shaft and bushes, retapped the adjusting bars to rid of rust/ dirt etc. Made up a tool to put the springs back on easy. (4mm stick welding rods are awesome).
We put it all together on Sunday, got her started after 5 attempts of jumpstarting a large flat battery
Then i went and tested the adjusting mechanisms. THEY WORKED! My Dad and i were so happy!, He said it hasnt had brakes for 30yrs+!! So the bands are still working from original(no brakes = no wear on bands i guess)
Made them equal adjustments on the pedals to it brakes evenly with the cross/joiner bar.
Yes it has been along time since the 1st post. I do work alot, and free time between my life and his, is very infrequent.
Thank you all again Champions!:thumbsup:
