I see that you changed the fluids and filters. How did the old fluid look? Clear or milky? Doesn't that model have a cleanable filter? How did it look?

when i start her up and try to lift pto, i have a 5 ft bush hog on it, it takes the power steering away, and getting some straving off pump, after oil gets warmer it will finally lift about a foot but not more, power steering comes back, whats the purpose of the small handle directly under seat its a bolt looking thing running thru 2 nuts, i took that out and put back in, looks like its a adj plunger to activate a valve in there? i did not turn the top bolt thru the first nut, so do nit think i caused a adjustment. again before changing fluid the 3 pt worked perfect. thx

i have no dipstick, when I drained hydro i put 10 gal fluid in it, i have the fill cap on r rear of tractor then on top left a plug, after starting n letting run to let hydro fluid flow, i then put a metal rod into left plug hole until it touched oil then marked flush to the top. there is a small plug midway down left side housing, i pulled that thinking if it ran fluid out that was the check plug but i put my pinkie in and could not touch fluid...
Hyd oil dipstick is located at inside rear of right foot rest. Check level with nut resting on threads. Have you checked/cleaned hyd oil sump screen?

Milky means water in the hydraulic oil - usually it gets there by draining down the shifters. If yours doesn't have the dip stick that's where the water entered. Good news is the system can stand some water, bad is that you will have to change oil there several times and clean the cleanable screen filter at least once.

You MUST clean out the cleanable hydraulic filter. That is what Tx Jim is more properly calling the Hyd. Oil Sump Screen. It is a cylindrical filter that is under a plate on the lower sides of the transmisson. Plate often has 3 bolts.

The knob in front of the seat regulates how fast the 3pt drops. It is a combo stop valve to hold the 3pt arms up... and a faucet type valve to regulate the speed of the drop. When you took that bolt out what did the end of it look like? Did it have an O ring? Sometimes the bolt and valve plunger get separated and you need to fish out the valve plunger part and screw them back together with new O rings.

May I ask what plate you're referring to that's held on with 3 bolts? Screen can be accessed by simply removing round plug that has a square recess that a 1/2'' breakover bar will fit into.

Good. If you read my message carefully I say that plate (covering the cleanable filter) OFTEN has 3 bolts - and so it does. It sounds like in this case it has a different mounting.

I read you statement carefully. If the cover you're referring to is the RH footrest then the screen can be accessed/removed with footrest in place

I think what is important is 1. there is a cylindrical cleanable filter 2. Access is low down on the transmission case 3. That filter needs to be cleaned as it is known to clog and cause hydraulic problems.

The OP can probably take it from there.

there is no screen filter when i take that off, obviously someone over past 50 yrs took it out and did not replace, when i changed the hydro a week ago it wws milky, when i drained it to check the sump screen it was milky again with about 8 hrs drive time, the main hydro filter picture shows the small steel line going around the filter to not interfere with pulling filter, some one also changed that line as it now runs directly across the filter housing preventing the filter from being pulled, when i changed fluid 1st time i tried to pull filter but could not so just screwed it back on snug..because the steel line is rusted and the fittings rounded off some and i did not want to risk causing a leak by damaging the fittings/line..so at this point i have the screen plug out to allow full drain out, i am gonna guess with no screen it has passed all the gunk into the main filter. i have been spraying pb blaster on fittings last couple days to soak and to.ortow I will try to remove line. if damaged will just get one made, i will then change the filter and refill. i have also ordered new shifter boots to install as they are mostly gone. meantime I bought me a 75 hp john deere and am getting my bush hogging done. thc to all for your assistance especially the pics...still waiting for the manual i ordered 2 weeks ago to come in...thx again, will update soon...
