When I worked for a construction company in Colo, we had a fleet of 7, Case 580's. Good machines! Had only one fuel pump that needed rebuilt/calibrated. Put in a few inj. nozzles and is about it for the engine, Trans, power shuttle and rear axle were bullet proof and never had any issues with them... The brakes another story.. The self adjusters on them would over tighten the brakes and gave us accelerated wear... We disabled the self adjusters and never had a problem again. All the hyd cyls are easy to rebuild and kits used to be readily available, I assume they still are today.
Sounds like you are getting a very nice deal on a good machine...
