Not sure what the true hours are on the JD, but I always liked that vintage and would have snatched it up if the hrs were true. Repaint or no repaint.

Before you start lording all over me go read post #3. And consider that the OP asked for our thoughts.
I’ve been buying and selling tractors and equipment off and on for many decades. Nothing replaces having hands and eyes on anything used. And a healthy dose of doubt and skepticism has served me very well. I’m not about to go look in person so I commented on what the photos show me. And I still highly doubt the hours are anywhere near correct. I also suspect the Deere is a European or Canadian spec tractor, but that is not certain by any means.

I doubt the hours too. I noticed a non JD replacement seat. Missing top link. Missing drawbar. Missing all fender lights. The PTO shield is there, but all beat up. I am surprised it was not removed and tossed. The "hand parking brake" and extra holes/lights on the dash makes it German built (nothing wrong with that).
I would prefer to see "honest" wear verses a repaint. The repaint does look better than the rattle can jobs I've seen at farm auctions. Not a $50 repaint.

If you plan to add a loader, it has the standard, not HD front axle and will also need the optional side frames.

I would also want the telescoping lower three point arms.

Went and took a look at the 5000. Started well, power steering is great, PTO runs without a problem. No shifting issues. No noise from the trans. Dual Power shift works perfectly well in my opinion, without another dual power experience to compare to. Having two remotes (actually two, unlike my 1966, with is set up with a splitter valve) is fantastic, and in that regard alone, simply due to the NH 492 I recently got having a hydraulic tongue swing as well as the lift cylinder, wins out over the 2030. Visually, the 5000 is more impressive to me, particularly in regards to the rear axle and 3pt lift arms being beefier than the 2030. Unfortunately, although not a real issue, is this 5000 doesn't have the interchangeable cat1/cat2 ball like my 5000, but it does have cat 2 ball, so a cat2 to cat1 bushing can cover that.

In regards to overall utility, I went with the 5000. The 2030 may be a better deal, especially if it's actually in as good of condition as presented, but the 5000 being heavier and a bit more useful wins out. Just waiting on delivery.

As an aside for curiosity's sake, does anyone have a ballpark on what each tractor is rated for on the 3pt lift? Tractordata lists 3200 for the Ford 4000, but no number for the 5000. I'd assume a similar number. Nothing listed for the 2030.

I cannot answer your question other than to say the 5000 has a larger lift cylinder and is quite likely to have greater lift capacity than the 4000 spec.
Good luck with your purchase!

Myself I would tend to lean towards the Ford.
The deere looks nice but I would be leary of the hours,
looking at the pictures only one has a small amount of the clutch pedal show,
looking carefully at that it looks like the steel has been worn on the top of the pedal,
if so that hour meter is incorrect.
The Ford with the dual power and two sets of remotes is more of a working tractor,
the cab will be quite hot in the summer, I don't recall how hard it was to remove the doors,
which helps and adding a couple of fans also.
In the winter the cab will be very nice. I would be seriously tempted to get AC in the cab,
even if it cost a couple of thousand dollars, it would be worth it.

t.

That seems to look like a paint wear off rather than actual steel wear. A repaint applied incorrectly, can have compromise in its hardness factor and come off almost immediately if not given the time to set up.
It 's all moot now since the op chose the Ford as best suiting his needs.

Good luck Kando with your purchase.
