198? B7100 Rust Bucket

A bout 1/2 mile down the road from me is a Kubota B7100 with a loader on it. This guy has been sitting in a yard unused for what appears to be a very long time.

Assuming that it doesn't run and has 3 flats and hasn't been fired up in over 4 years, what:

1. would you offer to have it carted off
2. would you recon it would cost to fix it
3. would make you walk away from it

I didn't get a look at the deck so I don't know what tranny is in it. Seems like such a waste just sitting there deteriorating.

Just might be worth stoping and asking and if the price is fair go for it,just might need a little tinkering and you could end up w/nice compact...like the old saying goes..."Chrome don't get you home"

Also you part it out...have notice tractor parts on ebay lately...yikes.

Tell them that you can haul it away at no charge and would be willing to pay them for the metal value. (75-100 bucks). Have the page from TractorData.com printed out showing the weight of the tractor. Going rate for scrap iron is in the 75 bucks a ton range right now.

I don't think the external appearance tells you much. These tractors are pretty well sealed up since they are designd to run half-submerged in rice paddies. What is far more important is whether it was worn out when they quit using it, or if it was parked due to some major failure, or they quit using it for something minor like a bad starter. Or maybe their business operation changed and made it unnecessary. (My Yanmar fit categories 3 and 4, it apparently had little use for 10 years but was left outdoors.)

I suggest research the tractor's history before you will know how much to offer. You might see if the dealer has records, if the owner says he inherited it in unknown condition when he bought the property, etc.

There is a chance it just needs a 100 hour service, fluids change, fresh fuel, new battery, and maybe a rebuilt starter or radiator. But I wouldn't pay much over scrap price if you can't determine the history.

Maybe offer what you could get if you parted it out on Ebay. If it turns out to be restorable, then that's even better.

DAP......Is this tractor in Maine? I live near Bangor and would be interested in some parts or if you don't buy it I may be interested in buying it. I just bought a B7100 with a loader and backhoe but its in pretty rough shape. The motor has a knock in it and the hood and engine side panels are missing. I also need the 3 point hitch arms. I am sure I will need more parts once I am able to look it over better.

SOmetimes you will find Older KUbotas in UNCLE HENRYS cheap[MAINE AND SURROUNDING BUY AND SELL MAGAZINE]There is an L3350 [4 cylinder diesal] with a cab and loader,and low hours in there now with fire damage 5500 Of course id bet you could walk out with it for 4000 never pay asking price.Never know from week to week whats going to be in there.Look in the farm and garden section.Also put an ad in that section,asking for what your looking for,everybody and their brother reads this thing up here.

So far ... its a non sell ... the thing hasn't moved in over 2 years, but the owner states [hiccup] he has plans for it. [hiccup]

Let's wait a spell on this one .. and yes the machine is in Maine, Lincoln county.
