If you have a manual for the tractor, what does it say?

Tractor Data suggest that is is open center hyd system.

RickB says it is closed center hyd system.

The grapple might be easier with a diverter/selector valve.

With no voltage applied, the curl work normally, and when you want grapple, you press a button and curl lever now controls the grapple.

It is a used tractor, so I expect the manual was lost many years ago in some guys barn. I guess I need to order a manual for my model and see what it says about the hydraulic system.

I like your idea of a diverter valve on the curl function.

Nowhere did I say this tractor has a closed center system.
You yourself posted two separate links to Tractordata.com. One says a 7710 is open center, the other says it is closed center. Both together prove the value of that site's information. Neither is correct as the tractor has elements of both types as well as a CCLS system. It is a unique hybrid system.
A common diverter connected to a work circuit will function just fine.
