1983 Yanmar 226D

Hi there,
I have a few questions regarding a 1983 Yanmar 226D. It seems in really good shape says 440hrs. I purchased it about 2 months ago. I am going to switch the tire set up so it is on the widest rim setting. However I would like to get even wider. I see that Hoye sells a hub extension but was told that will not fit my yanmar model? Can someone recommend any other set ups out there?

Also one rim has some rust around the air valve. The tires are filled with rust colored water? Will other rims (newer John Deere) fit my yanmar model, or will some fabricating be needed on bolt pattern spacing etc. 9.5-24 is hard to come by. I will try to figure out how to get some pics up in the next little bit.

Welcome to TBN!!

The 226 uses a slightly larger bolt pattern than most of the other smaller Yanmars and we don't have a spacer for it yet. A little rust around the valve stems is pretty common. You can weld drill/grind out the rust and weld in washers as long as there is not too much rust. The tires are usually tube type anyway so it does not need to be air tight. I know some of the larger Deere tractors use 9.5-24 tires on the front (I just sold a tube for one today, in fact) that have a bigger offset so that might be a possibility if you need new wheels. You would probably have to drill out the correct bolt pattern though.

Hi thanks. Do you know what models and yrs JD have 9.5-24 fronts? Also was looking for ROPS or pictures of custom mounts/rops for yanmars but I guess that should be a new thread?

I don't remember what model he had but it looks like there are several. The 5205 5065 are two of the first that I found. The bolt spacing on that front wheel looks big enough that a person could possibly just have an adapter plate cut with your bolt pattern & the deere pattern and bolt it right up.
