1990 Ford 4610 SU

Ford tractors were assembled in Basildon England both before and after the Romeo Michigan plant was closed following the 1988 production. The vast majority of Ford Farm tractors built between 1989 and 2000 and sold in North America were built in Basildon. Noteworthy exceptions include large Fargo-built 4WDs, Versatiles and Genesis tractors built in Winnipeg, Asian compacts, and Mexican tractors. Some tractors built between 1965 and 1989 were also built in Basildon and equipped for sale in North America. There's nothing special or particularly noteworthy about having a post 1964-British built Ford. If you have a post-1988 3 or 4 cylinder Ford utility tractor with blue paint, it is most likely a British built trqctor.

My apologies for thread drift, but you are the Ford guru. I was watching a show from the UK on the RFD channel. It featured 30 minutes+ of Fords/Fordsons plowing a field. (I couldn't help myself, I watched the whole show).

One of the featured tractors was called the "County" model, a 4WD model with the same-sized front and rear tires with I'm guessing 100 HP+.

Was there an equivalent model in the US?

Several models of Ford-based County conversions are found peppered around North America. My boss owns an 1164.

Hello Rick,

So should i stay away from the England tractors? Are they less valuable or more problematic. I want a 4610 SU II but trying to figure out which ones to look for. Also, is there more emission equipment on the England tractors or 90 models and up? Can't remember when some of the laws changed.

Re-read this part of my previous post:

Federal emissions requirements for 3 cylinder Ford sized tractors kicked in on Jan 1, 1998, long after 4610 production ceased. If you want a 4610 SU, you should be more concerned with price and condition than country of origin.
