Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum but hoping maybe someone on here has some experience with the repair we are attempting. :newhere:
Our Ford New Holland 1620 was leaking hydraulic fluid out of the clutch case. We ended up having to split the tractor, and replaced the gasket that was in the middle of the two halves of the HST. It was broken in multiple places and appeared to have failed. We replaced it with some standard fiber gasket material, and cut the gasket a little larger for more surface area. In my inexperience, I didn't have everything detached from the front portion of the HST, and cracked the casing. A local welding shop was able to repair it with some aluminum rod. We put the tractor back together, filled it with hydraulic, started it up, and it wouldn't engage forward or backward.
Eventually after some fiddling, we got it to run occasionally. It would move forward or backward in H, M, and L for a hundred feet or so, and then disengage. Then the hydraulic leak returned from the clutch case. :mur:
We split it again last night and the gasket still looks intact. It does not appear that the weld has failed, from what we can see. I am wondering about taking the HST apart and completely replacing all the O-Rings and buying the replacement gasket from a supplier.
Has anyone worked with this repair? any pointers or thoughts on what other issues to look for? :anyone:
