My jeep runs at a temp of about 200-210 F. While setting in traffic it gets close to red mark in temp gauge. Question is should I change thermostats.
What is normal running temp supposed to be?
Not sure what temp thermostat I have but was thinking of going to 180F.

Thanks

Could be many things. Radiator could be plugged or reduced flow, thermostat could be bad, could have an air bubble in the line. Best bet is to clean and flush the system and put in a new thermostat.

Check to make sure your fan is working.

I am sure it does need flushing but have always been told if you do not flush it regularly, which I have not, it will cause it to leak. Thought maybe just changing the thermostat would help.

Thanks Daryl

Thanks. Fan is working. It has 2 fans and both kick on and off.

I don't remember if they had pressure radiator caps or not but that's a possible fix as well. A system that doesn't maintain pressure is going to overheat sooner or later.
