My part of the state is still semi rural.. not much sprawl.

interstate speed limit thru here is 70mph... and that's the right lane.. IF you are lucky.

heck.. the service lane see's higher than 55 :)

Driving in texas, there are many roads with day / night speeds.. and many of those desolate roads with hours between cities are 60+ mph :)

I don't particularly think i'm grinding the machine into filings running it at a speed under it redline, and maintaining it properly.

Well thank heaven I live in God's country which is Oregon.
Our speed signs clearly say: Speed 65, Trucks 55.
You can just grind your equipment into filings if you chose.
Your responses indicate that you are pressured into your speed level.

>>>55 / stay alive don't apply when flow of traffic is 65-75 ( or higher ) going too slow on a hi speed freeway will INVITE dangers and risk...<<<

Sounds to me like you are living in hel.

55 is what the right lane is for.

Or are you trying to feed me is that the slow lane speed in hel  is 65?

Hey! Check out this Florida speed info:

Florida Speed Limits - SafeMotorist.com

WHEW! glad to know that I can legally drive a safe and reasonable speed next time I visit Florida. :D

So I guess you completely ignored???? where i said I use that truck exclusively for interstate or other limited access driving.. IE.. 70mph.

the only lower speed areas it see's are exits and onramps, fuel stations, and the milge from my house to the interstate, and the milage from the interstate to destination rusty tractor.

for day to day driving I got a different vehicle.

that f450 just pulls a trialer....

Just yanking your chain! :D
I'm with you; maintenance make the difference!
I hope to get another 200000 on the clock before rebuilding the engine.

yep.. I hope to have quite a few miles on that engine by the time the body wears out.

that truck is imacuately maintained and serviced. even parked under cover. gets washed every time I put it back up after use, and waxed 3-4 times per year.

I hear what you're saying about the lowering of the zinc content. I guess there was some concern, at least at first, if it was being replaced with enough molybenum or something else. Maybe thats's why the ratings advanced so fast from SM to SN.

The problem with using the diesel rated oils in new or leased gas trucks is there is a statement in the operator's manuals something like:
SAE 5W-30 is best for your vehicle. Do not use 10W-40, 20W-50 or any other viscosity not recommended...Oils meeting these reqirements should have the starburst symbol on the container. I have never seen the starburst symbol on the diesel rated oils.

I've used the 15W-40 and straight 30's in older trucks and tractors but I wouldn't consider it for a newer vehicle still under warranty or lease.

it's because they want you to use an energy saving oil...
