that have a differential lock?
if so and when engaged if you can move then you broke axle.
if no movement....gonna hurt I bet.

do you have to split the frame to access that or can you access from the rear?

What’s the pedal at your right heel? I thought that was a diff lock??

Diff lock was an option. Not all tractors were equipped with it.

suppose you could lift rear while in gear spin one tire. if other don't spin opposite direction then its axle issue most likely. if that pinion were broke tire should still spin opposite if axles ok.

Did not know that. Mine has it. Wonder what other options mine may or may not have. My FEL bucket has two rows of square holes. Assume this was for a bolt on edge of sorts. It would need to be about 10” deep to bolt an edge on though.

The 231 came equipped with differential lock.

If you have ipto you have to pull top cover to replace coupler do not have to split it they usually spin out the splines changed lots of them on four wheel drive units
On the 230 model also saw a lot of ring gears break if it has wet brakes has bigger ring gear and pinion

Start with the easy things first. Is the driveshaft still attached? Does it spin when you put it in gear?
