All direct injection gasoline motors get carbon build up.

Yes they do.

There have been expensive repairs resulting from independent shops trying to blow out the carbon. I've been told working on an eco-boost is no fun, but I have no personal experience other than driving them.

Lol y’all talking about the tech in the trucks, I’m happy to get a truck that has a radio, my 81 custom F150 doesn’t have a factory radio, which I hear makes the dash rare lol, no AC either so no dash vents, just floor and defrost .

My 90 F350 has a radio but the display doesn’t work lmao. It’s like radio roulette.

My trucks aren’t daily drivers so if I ordered a new one would be XL single cab prob with tow package or a F250. Interesting read on the new ones though.

The good news is Ford redesigned the new engines to cut down on carbon buildup.

I have a 2013 STX, many same features as dodge man, 4x4, same cab, electric locker, 5.0 V8., teenage passengers. My only complaint is the dang thing makes me poke buttons every time I wanna Bluetooth my phone. Menus, Buttons, chioces, scrolling,,,,, a long, useless process every time I drive it. That’s just silly, have I experienced a time-warp to 2005? I wish mine could be “updated” to y2017.

Other than that, It’s quiet and rides nice and hasn’t had a single problem. Very happy with my F150.

To heck with a new Truck...Wife bought me a new Tractor! Much more satisfying than a depreciating truck.

Just got back from our trip to the Pigeon Forge area. Truck averaged about 19 mpg for the trip, and that includes a lot of bad traffic in Smokey Mountains Park. Hand calculated differed but the computer any where from 0.4 to 1 mpg worse.

One problem, the truck does not have nav. For 2017 they have whats called Sync 3. It has the large center touch screen and it lets you hook your phone up and use the apps on your phone, such as nav and pandora. It usually works great but sometimes the phone wouldnt hook up. I suspect the phone is the problem since turning it off and on would allow it to hook up. Its an iPhone 7. There are some complaints about it on the F150 forums.

The phone Nav works great and even tones down the radio volume for turn but turn instructions. It also seems if you lose data connection on your phone, it keeps working as long as you have your destination keyed in before you lose data. We have unlimited data plan so thats not an issue.

One complaint, the headlights. We rented a cabin away from town. Lots of winding roads. The lights just dont shine a wide enough pattern. When turning sharp corners you were doing so almost blind. I read a safety review and the truck did well on crash tests but got poor marks for headlights because of not a wide enough beam. A lot of vehicles got poor marks for head lights. Its really hard to say unless I drove a different vehicle on the same roads, since on normal roads, the lights seen fine.

I still have a Challenger. Fog lights? I’ve never had any the light any more than the immediate area in front of the truck.
