HAHAHAHA Yep, me too. But I only mowed a couple of strips. In some areas it is growing like weeds. In others - nothing. I think where ever the dog "went" it is real tall.

Washita, I have been reprimanded for howling at your post whilst slapping the arm of my chair. :p It was the possum road kill part. We just had one stop by in (barely) pre-road kill condition to raid the cat's bowl. Sorriest, mangiest looking possum I have ever seen, and it actually snarled at me when I opened the back door.

Some days you just can't win.

A few years back one night we had a Possum come up on our front porch to eat the Cat food there and I remember opening the front door, and you know how possums play dead right, I guess it tried to play dead and it ended up rolling down the porch steps! :D
That night I named him Possum Pete (I was about 9 Ok?!)

We had a 'possum in the lower branches of an apple tree in the dead of a "real" winter here(they are becoming more scarce). I went up and looked him right in the eyes(amazing what you'll do for entertainment in the middle of a tough winter)...he played possum real well. Then I read later that one of their defense mechanisms is that they can spray just like a skunk. Glad I didn't get near the nozzle!

I have had to cut the grass 3 times already and I think this is the first year where I did not catch the protruding tree roots with the blades. I run my old blades for the first cut of the year due to this(and the various things you will hit) and then put on the nice sharp ones for the rest of the cutting season. Looks like we will have cool and wet weather this week...grass will love it!

My first mow last month netted me a four foot piece of rope... fortunately, my spider-senses were fully operational, and I cut power immediately when I heard a strange "zip".

The rope wrapped/melted around one hub and unscrewed the bolt holding the blade almost all the way. No damage to the belt... I thought that I would have smoked it.

about things in trees  the oldest daughter wanted the hornets nest out of the tree for a science project:cool: had never seen any activity so I assumed it was abandonded (about the size of a basketball) but to be on the safe side I waited till it was cold out before climbing the ladder and snipping it down ;) upon initial inspection it appeared abandoned:cool: packed into the basement and sectioned it in preperation for shellacing it so she could take it school for the science fair:) much to everyones dismay overnight it was reinhabited:eek: not sure if they were in the core or what but they were not a friendly bunch:eek:

Last year while mowing the back yard I found out that the 8MPH top speed of the PT425 is not faster than angry yellow jackets that make underground nests.

I'll take a dead turkey over that any day! :D

Me too! I had a situation once similar to MR's but it involved a string trimmer and an underground nest. With all the debris flying I didn't notice the yellow jackets until they started stinging an biting me. A couple had flown up under my shirt and were attacking my chest and stomach. My wife was watching from the house and said that I put on quite a show; I threw the string trimmer, ripped my shirt off and ran and jumped in the pond. She and the kids thought I had gone mad. :D
