I have a B7800 w/ 100 hrs. It has always run perfect- until today. I started it fine, ran it maybe 1 hr. and shut it off. When I tried to restart a little later nothing happened. It is like it has no battery. I did look to make sure. Any thoughts? Thanks, Billy

Sounds like a safety interlock problem...

Try holding the key in the start position and moving all he levers including the hst pedal.

Do the lights come on? If so your battery is not dead.

Can't suggestmuch more...especially since I am using my pocket PC while watching the Steelers game... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Hopefully someone else can give more help!

I agree with Henro. Hold the clutch pedal down and the key in the start position while you wiggle the range selector lever to make sure it's in one of the neutrals and the PTO lever to make sure it's off.

I had this happen to me once. A stick had bent the clutch switch keeping it from engauging for starting. I just carefully bent it back into position.

It hasn't happened again. Of course this may not be your problem, but it is an easy check.

Thanks Henro, Bird and White Rock. I tried your ideas but no luck. When I turn the key nothing happens- no instrument lights or anything. The battery checks out OK just have NO power. I do have a year left under warrenty if I can't figure it out. White Rock- where would the switch be you are talking about? Thanks again, Billy

If you are getting no panel lights, This is not the problem. First, verify that with the switch is in the run position, the battery shows 12V. If not 12V with a load, the battery is dead. If the battery shows 12V, I would start looking for fuse, or a broken wire from the battery back to the ignition area.

If this doesn't turn up anything, its going to get more complicated.

The switch I am referring to is down by the clutch pivot. You should be able to see it fairly easily looking below the foot board, I believe. You should be able to activate the clutch with your hand and see the switch operate. With the clutch released the switch should be pressed in completely, and when the clutch is pressed, it should completely release the switch.

Hope this helps.

OK, now I wonder if the main fuse isn't blown. Check your manual for the location; I think it may be on the firewall on the right side.

My B7100 had the same type problem. It was a faulty ground connection from the battery to the tractor frame. Of course you have a little more sophisticated electrical system.

2 thoughts - 1) try the old auto trick, turn the key to on, turn the headlights on, if they're bright it's not the battery. 2) I'm pretty sure my 7800 has a switch on the forward hst pedal as well as the clutch when it was delivered the rep from the dealer couldn't start it until he remembered to take his foot off the "go " pedal /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
maybe that switch is stuck

Good luck! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Hope you solve this one before I see it too /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Do the flashers flash when you press the red button? Mine do, even when the ignition is off. If not, you probably do have a power issue. If they do flash, you still may have a power issue but at least would know not everything is dead.

Check the PTO selector. It also has a safety interlock and must be fully disengaged.
