I have a new 5525, and the manual say to change the transmission/Hydraulic fliter and oil, also change the engine oil and filter at 50 hrs.

But when I bought the tractor they gave me everything I needed to do my first servicing. They gave me the engine oil and filter and 2 fuel filters.

I called them back after looking at the manual and they told me that they have found that the 50 hr servicing should only be the oil/fliter and fuel filters. They said they don't see the need for the transmission change until 100hrs.

The Manual is correct the dealer is trying to get out of giving you the fluid they owe you .

My 2615HST manual also said to change engine oil and filter at 50 Hrs. For hydrostatic / hydraulic fluid Dealer and manual say 200 hrs is the recommended change time. I do my own service and changed all fluids and filters at the first 50 then again at 200hrs.

You're lucky your dealer gave you oil, filter, and fuel filters. That's up to the dealer if he wants to throw them in at sale time. The engine oil, filter, and fuel filters are reasonably priced. The hydraulic and hydrostatic filters are expensive and were dealer only items when I bought my tractor.

My 4110 manual also recommended the first service at 50 hrs. and it is a wise move to do so. You'd be amazed at the trash that can accumulate in a new tractor's filters - metal shavings, sand from castings, pieces of silicone from sealing, pieces of rubber etc. All it takes is one little piece of metal or sand getting thru to ruin a hydraulic pump or valve spool and it may not even show up until hundreds of hours later. It's a bite to have to spend the money so soon for filters & fluid on a new tractor but in my opinion it's some decent insurance.

OK I have an update I looked further at my maintanence schedule in the back of the manual.

It says to only to clean the suction strainer at 50 hrs. It doesn't even recommend the fuel filters until 250hrs, the transmission/hydraulic change recommendations are not until 1000 hrs, the suction filter at 500hrs. For the oil it recommends changing oil and filter at 100 hrs.

So I'm all screwed up.

At 50 hours the 5525 manual says to change the oil, the oil filter and the hydraulic filter. And clean the screen filter in the hydraulic system return line.

It might say that somewhere in the text but if you look in the back at the schedule it says what I stated earlier.... so what's right??

Or maybe the 2009 manual is different.

Well I read throught the whole manual again, and it does state to change the hydraulic filter and clean the screen. But it doesn't say to change the Hydraulic/transmission oil. Can I clean the screen and change the filter without changing the oil??

Also it doesn't say to change the engine oil and filter until 100 hrs. Is this good??

Also the fuel filter replacement isn't recommended until 250hrs for primary and 500 hrs for the secondary. It only recommends to drain dirt and water from the filter bowls every 50hrs.

So why would the dealer be recommending the egine oil and fuel filter change at 50hrs. with no recommedation of the hydraulic/transmission???

Thanks,
Scott

Not sure about what the manual says. Here is what I recommend and did at 50 hours. All fluids changed. New oil, and fuel filters. Cleaned the hyd strainer, but did not change the hyd filter. As far as fuel filters goes, Mahindra recommends changing the fuel filters every 6 months reguardless of hours. This came from a phone conversation so it isn't in any manual.

Don't know why your dealer is telling you that stuff.

That filter screen is in the hydraulic system low pressure return line so you have to drain the hydraulic fluid to clean that screen. I'll do that on my 5525 this month and plan to just change the trans/hyd fluid then and be done with it.

You're right. The 5525 manual is confusing. Reads like it was written by committee.
