$2,900 too much for a set of forks

LOL, L39 I know what you're talking about. Now, the question is has the measurements changed between the loader arm bucket links to the bucket on a 580C to the newer M model backhoes? I don't recall EVER seeing an actual palet fork attachment for a 580C backhoe but I could be very wrong. I have only seen the forks attached to a bar and the case bucket has like 5 hooks on the top of it. I know that there have been changes in the design of the loader arms and the links to the bucket for curling and dumping the bucket slightly differently then the older models but I don't know if you can purchase a fork attachment for an M model that would fit a C model.

The quick attach style you mention is a little vague. The M's have two types of quick attaches, one that is a manual and the other hydraulic. They hyd. is out of the picture. BUT, if the linkages have not changed than you might be in luck for the manual quick attach, the only thing is the bucket wouldn't fit for the quick attach since again, the C's did not have such a thing. Price wise, I couldn't tell ya. Sorry. :)

Attached is a picture of what I am talking about as far as change in design which would prevent you from getting what you're thinking of.

Blake,

That I don't know. I just went ahead and bought the FFC Case mechanical coupler for a 580M. Pricey, but it's gonna make my machine a lot more versatile. I also bought the FFC quick coupler bucket and quick coupler forks. I got the manual type because I don't have plumbing to the front and it's just too expensive for me.

Until I can afford to buy a high-reach, the forks will at least help me get materials up to the 1st floor. For now, a rental high reach will be the ticket.

Here's what the forks look like on a 580M

Millonzi makes several sizes of forks. I bought their lighter duty (2000lbs) QA forks a year ago for about $600. I know they carry at least two sizes larger than that. Joe Millonzi frequents TBN and can be PM'd via his handle joe@mi

Well when you get it in and attach it could you post some pictures? I'm curious to see if it works. I guess I assumed you still had a 580C is that correct?

Blake,

I bought a '05 580 SuperM. Still waiting for the paperwork to go thru, so it's not a gaurantee yet, but I should have it by week's end.

One could get pallet forks for a 580C but they were pin on; remove bucket pins and reinstall on forks. I know someone that has a set.

The quick couple looks like the hot ticket. Even manuals will be way quicker than the pin ons. If I remember correctly, the tractor still does all the hard work and one just pops some retainer pins on and it's ready.

Ready to see some action shots of your new 580!!

Well then my whole post is worthless to you. HAHA, I'm sorry, I thought for some reason you had a 580C extendahoe but maybe I'm thinking of someone else. At this point, those should work fine! :-D

That's quite alright! No sweat, I know you were just trying to help.

The FFC Q/A system Case uses is just one lever at the bottom. It pulls both bottom pins inward and then you just get in the cab & curl the bucket down and the bucket is off.

Not quite as slick as the IT (intergrated toolcarrier) on the CAT 416CIT, but less hydraulic parts to break down & maintain.

The Case system is really similar to a quick attach on a Bobcat or smaller TLB
