2 acres - what do you recommend?

I have the 422 and have owned it for over 3 years and close to 500 hours on it , 60 per cent mowing . To date I have had no problems with the tractor . My property is mostly hills up to 22 degree slope where I use the 422. 15 degrees is no problem with the 48 inch mower but anything over that is pushing it. Due to the lay of the land I mow most of it is cross slope mowing not up and down. Over 20 degree slope the pt pucker has a tendency to kick in. If I had to do it over again and the new 425 was available I would probably buy it due to the more powerful wheel motors. The only other attachments I have for it are the small bucket and the tiller.

Dear Pat,

Thank you for such a detailed and thoughtful response. It is definitely shaping my thoughts a lot as I consider my choices. I am leaning toward the exact package you have recommended. Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Dear David,

Thank you for your excellent responses, and for all the time you've taken to educate me. Are you sure you're not on PT's payroll?

Seriously, the level of expertise and just plain care that goes into your responses is really astounding. I am leaning towards getting a PT425 with the 2 buckets, 48" finish mower and brush hog, and perhaps the forks and the mini-hoe. I'm sorely tempted to get the power brush. Has anyone here used one? I have a fairly long drive.

Thank you again,

Rob

No prob, dude. I had plenty of very helpful answers before and even more just after I bought my used PT-1418, so I'm just "paying it forward" so to speak...

As far as I know no one here on TBN is on PTs payroll, as we all can attest to paying full list price for everything /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I just call 'em like I see 'em. If I find something that I dislike or love, I'll tell anybody that asks(and even some folks that don't ask). Keep thinking about what implements will do the most work for you to maximize your dollars. The pallet forks are very useful and a great buy for the low price.

Or lessen your misery. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The last couple of days I have been running the 6 foot rotary cutter behind the Branson, trying to keep the non-plantation open acreage under control. Right now, that's close to twenty acres. Every time I had to cut under one of the hardwoods or cedars, I started to fantasize about picking up one of the PT rotary cutters as well as the finish mower when we get the PT-425.
