2 Bottom Plows

I've used several plows over the years, 3x, 2x, disc, i sold my 3x a couple years ago when i down sized tractors & have decided to buy another 2X 14 OR 16.
I'd like to hear what brands you've pulled & had the best results with, i've used MF, JD & Oliver in the past, just wondering about other brands.

The best is a Kverneland 2X but it's not likely you'll find one in TN. Head to Michigan or Canadian border where they are very popular. Kverneland won almost every plowing championship for the past 50 years. A two bottom looks heavy but pulls like a dream. I would love to find a Kverneland 2X for myself and this is the best that there is. I've owned them in the past and should have never sold. FYI--Kubota either owns or has controlling interest in Kverneland now. These are the sleeper plows and my #1 pick. Another FYI--you can buy a 3X, 4X or more X Kverneland and take all but two bottoms off.

As you know, the Deere seems to pull harder and MF is extra rugged. Oliver pulls easy and is highly regarded. Ford 101's are OK but a little light--which may be beneficial to you. I preferred the Ford 101 over the older Dearborn and Pittsburgh plows because of it's "trip" protection.

If White made a 2X it would likely be great and White/Oliver became the same plow at some point. There are some Deere plows with long, sweeping Kverneland moldboards and if you find one it would be within 20 years and a real gem.

Most all the modern short line plows are mediocre and I would look to a good used old name brand plow first and spend some time cleaning up the moldboard surface so it works better.

I have an old Pittsburg 16" single bottom that I bought new 33 years ago. Its H*LL for stout but I have so many rocks here............

I bought a 12" refurbished Ford Series 101 two-bottom plow. In reality it is an Oliver, painted blue for Ford. Great plow for my tractor.

Ken Sweet, Sweet Tractor, is a good source for used plows.

I was nearly certain the Ford 101 was built by Ford. I'm not being difficult but are you sure it was built by Oliver? It looks nothing like one of their plows. Now, I know the 150 series Ford plow had Oliver bottoms. That is one heck of a plow, rugged and functional.

Thanks guys, i'm looking at older plows for sure, will wait a little longer, they seem to drop in price once cold weather set's in & i haven't heard of Kverneland, something i may have to keep an eye out for.

Ford DEARBORN plow were manufactured by Ford.

Ford Series 101 plows with original blue paint are supposed to have been made by Oliver, not necessarily using Oliver's design. Probably a Harry Ferguson design.

Ford Series 101 plows with original red paint are supposed to have been made by another supplier.

Pretty sure but not sure, SURE.
