Stopped this morning to watch one of my neighbors using his 2 horse power fertilizer distributer and plow. I was impressed how easy he makes it look.
The field he is plowing is rectangular with square corners. When he came to a corner, he seldom pulled the reins, just told them to stop, then turn left. It was great watching how well they obeyed his commands.
While plowing the long sides, he seldom had to do anything other than just ride. The animals kept the plow at the right distance from the already plowed dirt.
He tends his garden like this every year. He has tractors and other equipment for his larger fields, but always wants to tend his garden the old fashioned way.
