2 Inch Receiver Attachments

I noticed that on some of the receivers welded onto the top of the FEL bucket they are actually welded onto a plate that looks to be about a foot wide which is in turn welded onto the bucket top rather than welding the receiver directly on to the bucket top. What purpose does this plate serve ? (I assume to handle twisting or side forces on the pole ? Is there anything else this is for ?).

Bcarwell,
Welding the receiver to a plate that is welded to the bucket is done for strength. The bucket metal alone is too thin and would bend if the receiver was welded directly to it.

Anyone have a receiver pinned to the bottom of the bucket in center. I asked the fella who welded my bucket hooks on about a receiver to move trailers with. He recomended one that pins in the bottom of the bucket...said it would be more versatile. I do have a toothbar on the bucket now. Will that give enough support to prevent the bucket from being bent when used?

Are you talking about adding it to the underside of the bucket or on top of your toothbar?
Seems either way it would be in the way of moving stuff in the bucket or if on the underside, in the way of getting a smooth grade on the ground your working on. To pin it so that it is removable just makes it that much more of a pain to have to get off and put on/take off.

Here are the two receivers that I made and installed on the loader bucket. They are in line with the hydraulic cylinders. The top of the bucket is peaked, so I made additional bracing to place them on. Hooks are the only thing that I have to install in the now. The next thing that I plan to make to use in them is a spill guard.

minds at work, everything looks great. I plan on welding a 2" receiver on my bucket one of these days to move my trailers around.

Flat plate steel is better than nothing, but offers very little strength against bending downwards. You really need a piece of square tubing, or channel for support.
