Get the Farmall going. It will be fine for mowing away from the house and get a ZTR for the lawn. You don't need anything else.

That's what I would do. That Farmall doesn't look in all that bad shape for a '53. It's obviously been kept inside out of the weather and that always helps.

Why would anyone "mow" 20 acres? Look, establish a yard near the house...maybe an acre or so. Then do something logical with the rest of the property. If you want animals, turn it into pasture. If you don't want animals contact your local conservation department about doing a prairie restoration, planting the acreage in native forbs and wildflowers.

I agree. Depending on your proximity to farming operations and the productivity of your soils, you may be able to rent out a portion of the property for hay, corn, soybean, and/or small grain production.

Edit -- According to USDA/NASS QuickStats Ad-hoc Query Tool, the average cash rent for non-irrigated cropland in Morrow County for 2012 was $108/acre.

if someone told me i had to mow 20ac with a ztr. I think I'd sell the land.. :)

3000-5000$ will get you into a deent older tractor.

say a ford 6xx, 8xx or 3xxx and a mower. maybee more stuff too.

So, we just signed papers to buy 20 acres and it needs mowed. We have about $3000-5000 to spend on a Zero Turn, what should I buy?
We might only mow 10 of it a week, but might hit the whole 20 some times.

What should we buy?
I know $3000-5000 for 20 acres is not great, but it's what we have right now.

Thanks!!!

Well, we have been so exhuastingly busy moving and working we "settled" for a used 72 inch Exmark. Wow that thing is a beast!!!! My wife wipped through our 2 acres at home before i knew it and at our new place she ran through 3-5 acres in a couple hours. Im amazed at this thing!!!

Once we get everything moved and settle ill start playing with the tractor. I spoke to the prior owner and i has some small issues (gen removed, battery removed, wiring issue, leaking oil, might need a head gasket, the list goes on and on) but he said he used it for mowing the back 10-15, which is what we will do w it as well.

Thanks
Brent
