The tires are filled with a water or antifreeze solution to add weight.

Filling the rear tires for more traction/stablity.
I loaded the rear tires on my DK 35 with windshield washer fluid. (R-4 tires held around 41 gal each).
Much better traction and much, much more stable doing loader work on uneven terrain.

Jim
We loaded your tires with a product called CitraStar-50
It's a biodegradable, non-toxic citrus by-product. It won't freeze or rot your rims and it smells kinda orangy lemon too.
Weighs 11 lbs per gallon. It's not cheap, but we load them for free when you buy the tractor.

Why won't you let Joyce bring in the horse? The nights are starting to get cold. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

OK, call me stupid but how do you get the air out and the liquid in? Is this a product you can order and do it yourself? Any replies would be appreciated. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

There is a hose adapter that you can buy, I've heard that NAPA stores sell them but I don't know about that, I do know you can get them from Gemplers (do a web search to find their site). It allows you to fluid fill and it bleeds out the air.

BTW, please, NEVER use anti-freeze in your tires. If they leak the liquid is very very toxic. Anti-freeze smells sweet, is very attractive to pets and kids, and as little as a tablespoon will kill a 100# dog, less can easily kill a child.

Here is a link to Gemplers : Gemplers hose attachment

You have to let most of the air out first, just don't break the bead. Then fill with CitraStar.
There is a special pump that's needed. When almost full you need to let out the remaining air.
I believe you have to be a dealer to purchase though. There are many dealers (at least this part of the US) that use it.

Their website needs to be updated but you may find a dealer in your area.

Hope I could help

Not only does antifreeze smell sweet it tastes real sweet too. I always have to try things... well, not really, I just got splashed when a hose popped off once.
