2000 shift boot

I looked at some old posts about this, and found the problem I have, but I'm unsure of the fix. I have some hydro fluid that leaks out from under the boot. Previous posts say replace the O-ring there.
When I looked at the parts breakdown, I'm wondering if this will do the trick. I guess I'm second guessing how fluid is being forced up that far. I'm not really to concerned about it at this point, and I do realize it is 20+ years old.
I just replaced my front left knuckle seal (thanks everyone for all the info), and I think I now have restore fever.

Your vent is likely blocked.

Thanks, I suspected that, but looking at it I didn't see any crud. This is the piple that comes out and makes a bend under the seat from the 3ph isn't it? Is it advisable to clean it out by running somthing down it?

Yes. I'd take it off first. You don't want whatever is in there to get into your transmission. It just unscrews.

I'm having the same problem. I did put a piece of screen around the vent and it isn't clogged. Will replace the boot... the next time I service.

I didn't replace the boot on my 1700, just used a ty-wrap on it after removing the springy thing used originally. Quit leaking after that.

It was plugged! Way down by where it screws in.
