Question for anyone that might know....

Being in Colorado I have had to start this 7360 in some fairly cold tems....about 15 degrees being the coldest.

When I turn they key to where I think I should see the glow plug indicator come on, the glow plug light does not light up. I leave it in that position for abotu 5-10 secs anyway and then turn the engine over.

Once the engine begins cranking the glow plug light comes on any the tractor will start after about 4-5 seconds of cranking. A little black smoke comes out at the very first but not anything I would consider unusual with diesels although my experience with them is limited.

Does this sound right? I was under the impression that the lights should come on in the "2nd" position and then go ioff when it is "OK" to crank the engine.

I recently had the same problem. Eventually, it will fail to start. I think what happens is that one or two of the glow plugs go bad and that eventually takes the glow plug controller with it. I just replaced my controller and four glow plugs. All is well now.

You can find the part numbers and cost in this old thread . It takes about 5 minutes to change the controller and about 1/2 hour to change the glow plugs. If you don't already have a set of 3/8" drive metric deep sockets, then go get a set. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Rozett, any problems since we both replaced glow plugs and the controller? I have not had any with starting. My locking differential quit. The roll pin that keeps it all together fell out. Found it it the bottom of the rear with a magnet. Laced it back in place with some stainless wire, still going.

No, I have not had any problems. Ziggy starts fine in cold weather, although it is garaged. So far, I have had few mechanical problems of any kind. I have ripped the hydraulic filter or the hose off a couple of times because of stumps. In the spring I will look at a skid plate to protect it.
